Updated: Comanche Honors Those Injured, Killed in July 3rd Explosion

Friday, July 4th, the Comanche Fire Department lowered their flags to half-staff in honor of the three men injured and one killed on Thursday, July 3rd in a fireworks-related explosion at the Comanche High School stadium.

The men, all members of the local Kiwanis Club in Comanche, were setting up for the 24th annual fireworks display when the explosion happened.

The explosion killed Dr. Russell Reynolds, and sent three others to the hospital, leaving at least one with critical injuries.

A candlelight vigil will be held at the stadium on Friday, July 4th at 9 p.m. in honor of these men, and to allow the community to grieve together.

At the vigil, the city, the Kiwanis Club and the families of those affected are expected to make an official statement.

There will also be a memorial service on Sunday, July 6, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Comanche.
