The vote means the city can condemn property if it is unable to obtain easements through negotiations and purchase.
The land is needed for a pipeline that will carry re-treated waste water to the city reservoir at Lake Ft. Phantom.
The city is planning to work with property owners and pay fair market value for the narrow strip of land the pipeline will require. However, if it become problematic, they now have the power to condemn the property they need.
The pipeline is expected to carry seven million gallons of water a day back to Lake Fort Phantom.
