The seniors at Abilene's Academy of Technology, Engineering, Math and Sciences (ATEMS) are the first ever to graduate from the program.

They began as Freshmen in 2009, the year the school was created.

Teachers there say they prepare students to tackle the "real world", teaching them social skills that they believe will help them for college.

Students say they were able to receive the necessary hands-on training to go on to pursue careers like Chemical Engineering.
