He's known around town as Zumba Jason and owns his own Zumba studio inside the Mall of Abilene. He's a busy guy, but even with his chaotic schedule,Jason Hernandez finds the time to volunteer.

It's something the children in the Anson Park Apartments look forward to every Monday and Friday. They're excited about their time with Jason.

"One or two hours a week, I come out here and I kind of hang out with the kids. We either do homework or go outside, or do a kids fit program with them," says Hernandez.

Hernandez says he felt called to volunteer and to give back to his community, " I used to be one of those kids, coming home after school, I didn't have anything going on. At the same time, I wanted to make sure that these kids know there is a future and I thought they could look to me as a leadership role."

It's no easy task keeping up with these kids, but those behind the after school program say that Jason has it down.

"Jason has a lot of energy. He's a lot of fun. He comes with so much more than what he signed up for. He signed up to do Zumba but be brings in donations and he talks to other people about us. So,  he's a huge connecting point for us in the Abilene community.

Jason doesn't get paid for the hours that he puts in here but he says leaves with something money can't buy.

"I think it's really important for people to volunteer just because it's a feeling that you can explain unless you do it yourself,
Hernandez adds.
