Representatives from American Electric Power (AEP) tell us they were able to restore everyone's power two days later, so long as their meter boxes weren't damaged, or there wasn't anything posing a potential danger for workers.
They tell us in Michael Clay's case, his meter box had to be entirely replaced and they had to wait for him to hire an electrician before being able to restore his power.
Clay tells us he and his family had to sleep in a motel for a week and eat out until they were able to move back into their home.
He says the process has taught him to appreciate the little things in life, like air conditioning and the fact that they have a home to return to.
