Impact Oil Drilling Has Residents Worried

A parcel of land was auctioned when the owner could not pay fines assessed against him. He claimed the mayor was after the land to drill for the oil underneath the surface. The drilling has begun but some residents have concerns.

The Abilene company did not want to comment on camera however they did say they just want to drill and are not harming the environment.

The City of Abilene says the company has two wells inside the city limits, and that there are no other permits pending now.

They also added that the company is responsible, always clean up after drilling and they have had no problem with the company in the past.

But these residents are mounting a campaign to stop the drilling in their town.
