(KTAB) - Tonight on KTAB News at 10PM, a Big Country mother opens up about how she used God to turn her life around after losing her kids to a decades-long drug addiction.
Jenny Valenzuela began experimenting with alcohol and marijuana when she was just 14-year-old, moving on to harder drugs like methamphetamine and heroin by her 20s.
The addiction took over Valenzuela's life, beginning a painful cycle of imprisonment, release, sober living, and relapse.
Valenzuela was incarcerated 3 times during her struggle, with her longest prison stay being 2 years.
She told KTAB the first time is scary, but it gets easier because you learn what to expect.
During her last stay, Valenzuela had to give her daughter up for adoption, and her son lived with other family members for years.
Valenzuela says losing her children was the "rock bottom" moment that forced her to seek the faith-based rehab she needed in order to change.
She stayed in a faith dorm while finishing up her last prison stay then transferred to New Beginnings in Abilene.
TONIGHT on KTAB News at 10PM - Hear more about how Valenzuela gave up her addiction and got her son back with hard work, a little faith, and a lot of help!
