The lake is a source of drinking water for the City of Abilene and other communities.
The problem is that the O.H. Ivie Reservoir is only at 10 percent capacity and it shows.
Lake shores are expanding and you can see the lines left behind every time the water level drops.
One boat ramp has not been open for some time and even the mud at the end of it is not mud anymore.
There is only one boat ramp that is open on the lake and, according to boaters, they will only be able to launch boats off of it for about another month.
Rusty Adams has been fishing out here for years and says he has not seen the lake at this level since 2012
He has a weekend place out here and says even if the water level continues to drop he's not leaving. He says the lake fills up quickly if there is a good enough rain.
But Charles Backer who fishes the lake at least once a week is not so optimistic.
City of Abilene residents are only allowed their grass once a week. According to Backer, he believes residents should not even be doing that.
