Monday is the deadline to register to vote in the upcoming primary elections.

However, some form of government-issued photo ID is needed to vote and for those who do not have a driver's license, state identification card or military ID card, the Department of Public Safety is issuing election identification cards.

There is no charge for the voter ID cards and the cards are available at all Texas DPS driver's license offices.

DPS reports that most voters already have proper identification to vote in the state elections and will not need to apply for an election ID card.
