More than 40 dancers are getting ready for not only their first cruise ship experience, but for their biggest performance yet, thousands of miles away at sea.

Dancers from the Patty Harper dance studio in N. Abilene will  be boarding the Carnival Triumph to perform in front of passengers on the 5-day cruise through Mexico.

Instructors want to use the experience as a way for the dancers to see that there are other career opportunities for performers other than the more obvious, like on Broadway.

The Triumph is the ship that was stranded at sea several months ago, but that isn't stopping the group, although about 20 opted to stay on dry land and not go on the trip.
