Liquidation Sale and Closure Postponed for Early JCPenney

EARLY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Shoppers will now have to wait over a month longer to cash-in on liquidation sales at the JCPenney store in Early, Texas.

The Early store in the Heartland Mall was one of 138 the corporation initially announced would be closing in June, but now, according to an article from CNBC, JCPenney executives have decided to postpone the closures and subsequent liquidation sales for about six weeks.

Liquidation sales are now set to begin on May 22, 2017, instead of on Monday as initially advertised. The stores, including Early's JCPenney, will be officially closed for good on July 31, 2017.

CNBC reports increased traffic in the 138-affected stores has prompted the postponed liquidation and closure dates.

"Ever since the company announced its store closure list, those stores have seen better-than-expected sales and traffic," JCPenney spokeswoman Daphne Avila told CNBC
