AISD set to hold pubic hearing on school board elections methodology

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - The Abilene Independent School District Board of Trustees has set a public hearing to inform people of the methodology used to elect school board members.

On Thursday, July 13, the board of trustees will hold a public meeting from 6-8 p.m. at One AISD Center's Jefferson Room at 241 Pine Street.

The public is invited to attend, and will have an opportunity to address the board.

Those interested will also have the opportunity to provide feedback online through the School Board Voting Methodologies Survey page at www.abileneisd.org. A video of a presentation on Texas school board election methodologies that was provided at the May 8 board meeting will also be available to view on the website.

Trustees have been exploring board election options allowed by Texas law. Currently, there are 7 at-large members serving four-year terms. Elections are held biennially, or every two years.
