She's loved by many, and admired by all within the Abilene community. And now, full time volunteer Gail Russey is receiving some well deserved recognition.
Gail is one of a few Big Country residents that have been nominated in a national contest for this year's "Salute to Senior Service" award. And needless to say, she's very honored by the news.
While hundreds of residents donate their spare time within the Abilene community, Russey has played a significant role in starting organizations with the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council, helping the Abilene Zoo raise funds for a major upgrade to their giraffe exhibit, and also serves as an honorary commander out at Dyess Air Force Base. And that just barely scratches the surface of her contributions.
Which is why these organization find themselves grateful to have someone like Russey, who is proud to give her time each and every day, for the city she loves.
You can vote for Gail or the any of the other nominee's starting April 15th at the Salute to Senior Service website.
