9 'malnourished' dogs surrendered from Abilene home

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Nine dogs a concerned citizens says were 'malnourished' were surrendered to Abilene Animal Services Wednesday evening. 

The dogs were surrendered from a home on the 2700 block of Beech Street around 5:30 p.m.

This concerned citizen, who did not want to be identified for protective purposes, says she called Animal Services after seeing the dogs' living conditions.

She told KTAB and KRBC the dogs did not have access to food or water and were very skinny and sickly looking. 

Animal Services responded and took nine dogs after they were surrendered by the owners. A few other dogs were released into the custody of a next door neighbor. 

It's unknown if the owner of the dogs will be facing any criminal charges.
