ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - An Abilene boy was killed during a fiery crash involving a fire truck in Eastland County early Saturday morning.
Isaiah Gonzalez, 11, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash on I-20 east of Cisco around 6:35 a.m., according to a report from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The report states Gonzalez's car was slowing with traffic due to a crash in the eastbound lanes when it was struck from behind by a Pierce Fire Truck, causing the car to go into the ditch and catch fire.
The driver of the fire truck was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries, and the driver and another passenger in Gonzalez's car were hospitalized with minor injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and the report also notes the fire truck "was in transient out of state after sale and was not in service or responding."
