Abilene 5-year-old covered in bruises, suspect indicted

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A suspect accused of abusing an Abilene 5-year-old who was covered in bruises during a Forensic Interview has been indicted.

Adam Rocha, 28, of Hawley, was indicted on one count of Injury to a Child. He was arrested for the crime in August then released from jail after posting a $30,000 bond.

Court documents state police began investigating Rocha after receiving a welfare call about the child in August of 2015.

This child was brought into the Taylor County Child Advocacy Center for a forensic interview, and during the interview, the child told detectives Rocha "would get mad at her and leave bruises on her", according to the documents, which state the child claimed Rocha would cause the bruises by pinching her, using his knuckles, and whipping her.

The documents also detail several photographs taken during the interview, which showed an injury on her leg, a scratch on her neck, red marks on her foot and chest, and bruising on the following parts of her body: abdomen, tricep, several on her leg, her buttock, and her face.
