Abilene all-star working for trip after making elite team

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB) - It's the chance of a lifetime for one Abilene boy who has been chosen to represent not only Abilene but the Southwest region of the United Sates in an upcoming all-star baseball game at Walt Disney World.

Blaze Garrett has been playing baseball since he could walk.

"It's just being a part of a team and knowing that everybody else has your back and it's not just on you," said Garrett.

He was chosen out of 5,000 other baseball players to play in an elite game.

"It's the USSSA All-American Team," added Garrett. "I tried out for it on June 5th. It's very special to be chosen. About 5000 tried out and only 500 made it."

The cost of the trip isn't cheap. He has a gofundme page but also is working on a ranch to help raise money.

"I do anything he needs me too. Feed the animals, take down barbed wire fences."

Garrett is using his summer to train and improve his baseball game.
