Abilene Board of Realtors Releases Statement Regarding Tom Niblo's Death

Abilene, Texas (KRBC/KTAB)- The Abilene Board of Realtors has released a statement regarding board member Tom Niblo, who was found dead Monday morning.

The board's director, Judy Harris, released the following statement:

"The Abilene Association of Realtors is mourning the loss of our friend, colleague, and long-term Realtor member, Tom Niblo.  He has been a leader in commercial real estate in this area for the past 30 years.  He was also a real estate investor.  He and his family were instrumental in shaping Abilene real estate.  He was very involved in the community and an integral part of our association.  We send our condolences to his family and many friends.  He was well-respected and will be sorely missed."

Niblo was shot and killed at his home on the 3700 block of Woodridge Drive just after 6:00 a.m

Officers on scene told KTAB and KRBC Niblo's spouse called 9-1-1 around 6:18 a.m. to report the shooting. Police say she told the operator she escaped out of the back of the residence after hearing shots fired inside, but her husband was not able to get away.

A dog was shot as well, but Niblo's wife was not injured during the incident.

She is currently in protective custody as police continue their investigation.

Niblo was Vice President of Senter Realtors in Abilene. He also worked as a commercial agent for the company
