ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - An Abilene man has been indicted on multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and evading arrest, according to court documents.
Abilene police responded to a call of a shooting at The Edge apartments in the early hours of January 5, 2018.
After stopping a vehicle leaving the area, officers made contact with four occupants in the vehicle, two of which has suffered gunshot wounds, according to the documents.
The two gunshot victims were identified as Anton Covington and Marisol Fuentez, according to the documents. Covington suffered gunshots wounds to the chest and shoulder, Fuentez had been shot in the head.
After conducting interviews, detectives learned that shots were fired during an altercation in a parking lot of the apartment complex, with Richard Renteria being named the shooter, according to the documents
Abilene police were able to trace Renteria to a residence on the 2500 block of South 18th Street on the following day, where Renteria fired a shot at SWAT officers and attempted to flee the scene. Officers were able to catch up to Renteria and take him into custody shortly after.
