Taylor County mother arrested after infant tests positive for cocaine, meth

TAYLOR COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A Tye mother was arrested after her 6-month-old baby tested positive for cocaine and methamphetamine.

Mellisa Floyd, 32, was taken into custody Thursday and charged with Endangering a Child then released from jail after posting a $25,000 bond.

Court documents state Floyd had the infant with her when she was arrested for Theft in June of 2017, prompting authorities to release the child to Child Protective Services.

A CPS-administered drug test revealed the infant had both cocaine and meth in her system, according to the documents.

During a subsequent interview, the documents state Floyd, who also tested positive for meth, "admitted to using meth while the child was in her care."
