Abilene Police: Sweetser still a suspect in Niblo murder

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB) - Tomorrow marks seven months since prominent Abilene realtor Tom Niblo was killed in his south Abilene home.

Today, Abilene Police held a surprise news conference in regards to the case to update media on where the investigation stands and to respond to the attorney who represents the main suspect in this case.

On Monday, KTAB spoke with Lynn Ingalsbe who represents Niblo's brother-in-law Luke Sweetser. Inglasbe says police have no evidence to support a murder charge against his client.

Police confrimed today they don't have enough evidence to charge anyone with this crime.

"At this point, we do not have sufficient evidence to charge anyone with the murder of Mr. Niblo a this time," stated Detective Willie Ford.

Officials say they have several suspects but have still only publicly named one, Luke Sweetser.

During today's news conference Detective Ford stood by that and said Sweetser is still a main person of interest.

"I think anyone who has kept up with this case," explained Detective Ford, "would realize Mr. Sweetser is a suspect in this case."

Abilene Police remain tight-lipped about this investigation because they say they do not want to jeopardize the outcome of the case.
