Abilene police warn businesses to stop selling CBD products - one store already raided

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Abilene police are warning businesses to stop selling cannabis-derived CBD oil products.

CBD, which stands for Cannabinoid/Cannabidiol, was classified as an illegal, controlled substance by the D.E.A. in July of 2017, according to the Abilene Police Department.

Police are urging "those who are selling CBD products to cease selling this product and remove it from your shelves. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated."

They are aware of several businesses currently selling the products.

Last week, an unnamed business on S. Treadaway Blvd was raided during a search warrant execution, and CBD products, along with THC, K2 type products, and a pistol, were seized.

Ernest Gonzales, 33, was arrested for Fraudulent Use of Identifying Information, Possession of THC, and Possession of Marijuana.

Jeorge Villanueva, 37, was arrested for Possession of THC.
