Abilene softball team honors teammate killed in weekend car crash

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB) - The softball game may have been on their schedule, but for the Nemesis women's fast pitch team, the game was different than usual. That's because they're missing a player.

Their shortstop was killed in a car accident Saturday night, but they continued to play ball in her honor Tuesday night.

The team says cancelling the game wasn't an option, because they knew tonight they had to play for Sarah.

"She's played ball since she was a kid," her teammate and friend, Heather Snow says. "She had a big heart for it. Practices, she was amazing. She could throw for days."

The say Nemesis won't be the same without their #43.

"It's hard because she was like a big chunk of us, you know," Snow says. "We all got really close playing together. We just miss her and wish she was playing here with us."

As they play ball, part of Sarah is there, as her number is represented on every players shirts or arms and her glove rests behind home plate."

The teams held a balloon release in Sarah's honor after the games.
