ACU president addresses the loss of a student

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - The president of Abilene Christian University has released a statement regarding the recent passing of an ACU student.

ACU President Phil Schubert has released a statement regarding Celina Schuetz, who passed away along with her mother in a car accident in Nolan County Friday afternoon.

The release reads:

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

It is with deep sorrow I inform you of a recent car accident near Sweetwater, Texas, that took the life of one of our students, Celina Schuetz, and her mother, Catherine. Celina was a junior from McKinney, Texas, studying child and family services. She was a member of GATA social club and adored by many on our campus.

Please join me in prayer for the family and friends of Celina and Catherine. We will provide additional information about funeral arrangements on MyACU and lift their family in prayer at Opening Assembly on Monday. The ACU Counseling Center will be available during normal weekday hours to schedule appointments by emailing counseling@acu.edu or by calling 325-674-2626.

In the meantime, please be safe if you are traveling to campus this weekend. I know this is a difficult way to begin a new academic year, but I am thankful we will soon be together again to provide each other with love and support.

In Him,

Phil
