SNYDER, Texas (KTAB) - An after school program in Snyder ISD is teaching students to live a healthy lifestyle. The After Schools Center for Education or A.C.E. program has brought back their CrossFit for Kids program after a brief hiatus.
"We want to promote a healthy lifestyle and educate them on how to have that and incorporate fun, functional movements in everyday life," Co-Owner of CrossFit Snyder Ryan Grinnell says.
CrossFit for Kids incorporates everyday movements in fun workouts for the students.
"Three things we focus on are mechanics, consistancy and then intensity," Grinnell says. "After that, we like to have fun."
Fun being the most important mission. Grinnell says the program is designed to teach the students that "working out is fun," especially in a world surrounded by technology.
"They're so surrounded by technology today that we want to get them out, get them moving and show that it is fun and incorporate that into life," he says.
And the students say they have developed a love for cross Fit.
"If you put your mind to it, anything is possible," one student says. "It doesn't matter what your age is, no matter how old you are or how young you are you can still do it because it's a good workout and activity for everyone," another student adds.
Students in the program are intermediate and junior high school students.
