Armored suspect opens fire in north Abilene neighborhood

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - An armored man fired several shots in a north Abilene neighborhood Sunday, prompting police to seize items of evidence from a vehicle involved.

Two suspects involved in the crime, Arsene "Desy" Koumba, 23, and Jules Mukeha, 23, was taken into custody the same day of shooting on the 1400 block of Park Avenue and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Court documents state several witnesses saw Koumba, dressed in body armor, fire several shots on the 1400 block of Park Street before getting into a vehicle with an unidentified female. It was later learned Mukeha was driving.

One victim at the scene told detectives Koumba, who was known to her, fired a shot straight at her, "almost striking her in the head", the documents read.

Police later located the car used to flee the scene and interviewed the owner, Mukeha. The documents state Mukeha admitted to being involved in the shooting and told detectives that afterward, Koumba had placed a firearm, belt with possible holster, and a vest in the trunk of another vehicle parked at a north side apartment complex.

The vehicle was located and a search warrant was later executed while it was at the police station. Several items of evidence, which were not detailed in the search warrant, were seized.

Both Koumba and Mukeha are being held in jail on a $30,000 bond.
