MORAN, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Two Moran-based companies that invented 'bump stocks', firearm accessories used during the Las Vegas shootings, has stopped sales of the product.
Slide Fire Solutions posted the following message to their website Thursday, "We have decided to temporarily suspend taking new orders in order to provide the best service with those already placed."
It's currently unclear if this decision to stop selling the 'bump stocks', also known as bump firing systems, has anything to do with the deaths of 59 patrons and injury of over 500 more at a Las Vegas music festival Sunday night.
Bump Fire Solutions, also based in Moran, has decided to stop selling the products as well due to an increase in demand. A message to their website says, "due to extremely high demands, we have temporarily stopped taking orders to better ensure customer service."
Stephen Paddock, 64, used the 'bump stocks' when he fired into a crowd of thousands from his 32nd-floor room in the Mandalay Bay Hotel overlooking the Vegas Strip where the festival was taking place.
Slide Fire's website provides the following information on 'bump stocks', "Bump firing is a well-established capability that uses the recoil of a semi-automatic firearm to fire multiple shots in rapid succession. The patented Slide Fire® rifle stock allows shooters to safely and accurately bump fire their rifles without compromising safety and accuracy."
