Big Hearts: brother and sister ACU students deliver meals

Big Hearts: brother and sister ACU...

Abilene, TEXAS (KTAB) - It's a weekly drive Laura Fisher and JD Bynum.
They're both Abilene Christian University students and volunteers at Meals on Wheels Plus of Abilene.
"It kind of developed into something that I, at first had to do but turned into something that I enjoyed doing," says JD Bynum, a student.
Service hours may be required as an ACU student, but for these two it's what they love to do.
Laura Fisher, a student adds, It's become some interval part of our week. On weeks that we don't get to do it, our week feels off."
These volunteers happen to be brother and sister.
Fisher says, " I started doing Meals on Wheels my freshman year which was in 2015. I've been doing it ever since. When JD was a freshman, I got him to do this with me. That's three semesters we've been doing this together. "
They grew up learning to serve others and they're happy for the chance to do it together.
"It gives us a chance each week to spend quality time together. We have busy school schedules so it gives a time to be together serving others," says Fisher.
Fisher is on the road to graduation, but JD plans to keep on the route, delivering one hot meal at a time, "She's graduating this year but I still think I am going to do Meals on Wheels by myself."
Meals on Wheels is always looking for more drivers to deliver meals to people in the community like Laura and JD, if you are interested, here's a link with information to do so:
