Big Hearts: McMurry soccer team pitches in to help the DRI Pumpkin Patch

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB) - Once their cleats meet the field, the adrenaline starts to kicks in.

They’re here to sharpen their soccer skills so they can beat the next team in its path.

Winning, however, isn’t the only goal on the minds of these players, “If we work together for a common goal for a common cause, it's going to get us further in life,” says Tyler Tarango, the head coach for the men’s soccer team at McMurry University.

Head coach, Tyler Tarango knows what happens on and off the field can guide his team in the right direction.

This week, they intentionally stepped out of bounds and into the Disability Resources Incorporated Pumpkin Patch.

Tarango adds, “Giving back is the most important thing.”

DRI helps provide housing and programs for intellectually challenged adults in a Christian environment.

Each pumpkin sold will support the mission.

So whether it’s in the patch or on the pitch, working together is always leads to a win for the War Hawks.

The DRI pumpkin patch is located in Abilene on Highway 32/277 north of I-10. It’s open 7 days a week through Halloween.
