Brownwood Lyric Theatre Presents Beverly Hillbillies

BROWNWOOD, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - The Lyric Theatre in Brownwood is preparing a production of Beverly Hillbillies based on the popular television series.

The first showing will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday night. The play is directed by Larry Mathis and involves several leaders from around the Brownwood community a part of the 29-member cast.

Cast and crew members have been rehearsing since October, perfecting their parts in the play that's promised to be filled with good times and laughter.

Eric Evans, managing director for the Lyric Theater, says, "It's based off the same familiar themes that you see with the show that was on from 62-71. It has the granny and the Jed, your Jethro, Ellie May. It's that same particular theme we tell the story from when they became million airs and got the check from Midland oil."

Spectators from all over Texas are expected to attend the play. Show times are as follows:

  • Friday, February 17th - 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, February 18th - 7:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, February 19th - 2:30 p.m.
  • Friday, February 24th - 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, February 25th - 7:30 p.m. 
  • Sunday, February 26th - 2:30 p.m.
