City of Abilene and Rescue the Animals, SPCA partnering to make the Abilene Animal Shelter better

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - The City of Abilene and Rescue the Animals, SPCA are looking for the public's input to help make the Abilene Animal Shelter one of the best in the state.

The City of Abilene and Rescue the Animals, SPCA are partnering to present a program aimed at improving the animal shelter, called Shelter 20/20.

The program will evaluate current shelter programs and facilities so that they can develop new programs to strengthen shelter operations.

Rescue the Animals, SPCA is inviting the public to participate in an online survey, which will help to evaluate the shelter and generate new ideas.

Rescue the Animals, SPCA will also be collecting data from their partners in over 30 states to find what works best in shelters across the country.

The Abilene Animal Shelter has also been chosen as one of only 11 shelters nationwide to participate in a groundbreaking Texas Tech University Behavioral Intervention Program to Increase Adoptions.

The shelter is also participating in a Texas Tech Compassion Fatigue Study to help shelter workers deal with the psychological stresses of their jobs.
