City of Abilene invites citizens to discuss 'Crime Reduction Plan'

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - The City of Abilene is inviting citizens to an upcoming discussion about crime in the Key City.

Stop the Violence, a movement created to reduce crime in Abilene, is hosting the A.C.T. Community Meeting on Monday, August 14th, at the Abilene Convention Center, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

A press release from the City of Abilene states, "this meeting will serve as the final step towards the communities Crime Reduction Plan.  As part of the Stop the Violence movement, the A.C.T. initiative calls for the community to Accept responsibility for the current state of crime in the city, to Collaborate with the community and come up with solutions, and to Take action."

Guest speakers at the A.C.T. meeting will include: Chief Stan Standridge of the Abilene Police Department, Doug Peters of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Duke from the Abilene Independent School District, Pastor Chad Mitchell of Mission Abilene and Sari David.
