City of Abilene Memorial Day Closings

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Many City of Abilene offices and community service centers will be closed Monday, May 30 in observance of Memorial Day.

In a press release from the City of Abilene, the following closures were announced for Memorial Day, Monday, May 29, 2017:

The Abilene Animal Shelter will be closed Memorial Day.  Citizens with animal-related issues should call the Abilene Police Department at 325-673-8331 and the animal control officer on duty will be dispatched. The shelter will resume normal hours on Tuesday, May 30.

The Solid Waste Services Division will provide all scheduled residential and commercial container collection on Memorial Day. No brush or bulky collection as the Abilene Brush Center will be closed Monday. Collection will resume Tuesday, May 30.

Municipal courts will be closed Memorial Day as well.  All citations due Monday, May 29 will be due Tuesday, May 30.

Citilink offices and operations will be closed Saturday and Monday, Memorial Day.

The Water Services Center on 701 E. Highway 80 will be open Memorial Day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to accept delinquent payments, continue water services, and set up services for new customers.  The Water Emergency Repair Service's hotline is available 24 hours a day at 325-676-6000.

The Abilene Zoo will be open Memorial Day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the last admission at 4 p.m.

The main and Mockingbird branches of the Abilene Public Library will be closed for Memorial Day.  The south side branch inside the Mall of Abilene will be open during their regular business hours.

Other Memorial Day closings include City Hall, the Water Billing Office, Health Division, Abilene Convention Center, the Development Corporation of Abilene, the Airport Administration Office, and City Recreation and Senior Citizen Centers.
