City of Comanche needs to rehome nearly 30 animals due to temporary shelter closure

COMANCHE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Nearly 30 animals in the Comanche Animal Shelter need to be rehomed by the end of month as the establishment is set to close until further notice. 

10 dogs and 13 to 14 cats are currently available for adoption or foster, and any animals remaining by the beginning of September will be surrendered to the City. 

In a press release, Mayor Ronnie Clifton offered the following message, "We would appreciate the public's cooperation in helping the City to place animals in their temporary or permanent homes by the end of the month. This will enable this City to move forward with an assessment of Shelter functions, operations, building repairs, equipment needs, and sanitation."

The shelter will be open during the following extended hours: August 26th from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., and August 28th through August 30th from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. 

Female cats will cost $70 to adopt and males will cost $42. Female dogs that weigh 0 lbs to 20 lbs will cost $75, females that weigh 21 lbs to 41 lbs will cost $85, and females that weigh over 41 lbs will cost $95. Male dogs that weigh 0 lbs to 20 lbs will cost $50, males that weigh 21 lbs to 41 lbs will cost $66, and dogs that weigh over 41 pounds will cost $80.
