Road crew worker struck by car on I-20 in Abilene

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A road crew member was struck by a car while working on the side of I-20 in Abilene Thursday morning. 

Police on scene told KTAB and KRBC a car was traveling east down I-20 when it drove into a group of men working at mile marker 292 just after 8:00 a.m.. 

The car had just passed someone then re-entered the right lane when it continued right for an unknown reason, slammed into a trailer, then spun out, hitting a worker who didn't have time to get out of the way, according to police. A road crew truck was struck as well before the car came to rest. 

The worker struck was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, as was the driver of the car.

No other injuries were reported in connection to this incident.

The car's driver was cited for failing to move right safely.
