Controlled Burn Consumes 3500 Acres at Brownwood's Camp Bowie

BROWN COUNTY, Texas (KTAB) - Fire fighters from across the state of Texas are in Brownwood to participate in and learn from a large-scale controlled burn at Brownwood's Camp Bowie. 

The Texas A&M Forrest Service began burning 3500 acres at the former army base Tuesday morning.

Members of the Plano, Coleman, Abilene, Plano, Arlington, and Lake Dam Fire Departments worked alongside the Forest Service to burn off underbrush while keeping the fire under control.

The burn will continue on through Wednesday, and additional training will take place on Sunday.
