Counterfeit cash found in car, 3 Sweetwater men arrested

SWEETWATER, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Three Sweetwater men were arrested after counterfeit cash was found in their vehicle in Taylor County.

Christopher Guajardo, 32, Benny Caballero, 44, and Marcus Caballero, 43, were all taken into custody after an investigation that began when members of the Taylor County Sheriff's Office contacted them while they were sitting in a car parked at a bank in Trent Wednesday morning.

A press release from the Sheriff's Office states the car was impounded because the driver was arrested on a warrant and none of the passengers had a valid driver's license, and when the car was inventoried at the impound lot, investigators found counterfeit U.S. currency.

Guajardo and Benny Caballero were charged with Forgery of a Government Instrument, Money or Securities and were also picked up on unrelated warrants.

Marcus Caballero was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) and Possession of Marijuana.

All three men are being held in the Taylor County Jail. Guajardo's bond has been set at $11,500, Marcus Caballeros's bond has been set at $3,000, and Benny Caballero is behind held without bond.

The Abilene Police Department and the Nolan County Sheriff's Office assisted in the investigation.
