County-wide burn ban lifted for Taylor County

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - According to a press release, the burn ban in Taylor County has been lifted.

According to the release, the ban on outdoor burning was lifted by County Judge Downing Bolls.

The ban had been put into  place by the Taylor County Commissioner's Court on August 1 during a regular session. In that same session, the commissioners named the County Judge, or a designee, the "authority to release the ban when conditions allow."

The release states that with adequate rainfall having fallen throughout the county, and with more still expected, the burn ban has been lifted.

Judge Downing Bolls still urges caution when burning, saying in the release:

"Although I do not encourage burning at this time unless it is essential, I continue to caution all citizens of Taylor County to exercise great caution with outdoor burning and to assume responsibility to contact your local fire chief and have safeguards in place before attempting any burning. Any citizen who chooses to conduct a burn is liable for any damages caused as a result of that burn."
