Documents: Abilene man kills infant by sleeping with him in "unsafe manner"

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - An Abilene man is accused of suffocating an infant to death by sleeping with him in an "unsafe manner" in April of 2014. 

Tevin Payne, 25, was arrested on Wednesday on two charges connected to the infant's death - one count of Injury to a Child and one count of Criminal Negligent Homicide. Payne has been indicted on these charges by a Taylor County Grand Jury. 

Court documents state Payne is accused of committing the crimes "by sleeping with. . .an infant in an unsafe manner, thereby suffocating him."

No additional details about the crime are available at this time. KTAB and KRBC reached out to Payne to see if he would speak to a reporter to tell his side of the story, but he declined the request. 

Payne is currently behind bars on bonds totaling $20,000.
