Driver collapses on street following south Abilene crash

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A driver ran out into the street and collapsed following a head-on collision in south Abilene Friday morning.

The crash happened near the intersection of Catclaw Drive and S. Clack Street just before 10:00 a.m.

Police at the scene told KTAB and KRBC the injured driver was traveling down Catclaw Drive approaching S. Clack Street when he lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons and struck a vehicle turning right onto Catclaw Drive. 

After the driver ran out into the street, bystanders pulled him from the roadway and he was unconscious and unresponsive until he was loaded into an ambulance. 

His current condition is not known at this time. Police believe a medical complication could have contributed to the crash.

The other driver involved was not injured.
