Drone forces firefighting aircraft away from Brown County fire

BROWN COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - An unauthorized Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV or drone) forced a firefighting plane away from the area of a fire Saturday, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.

"This intrusion forced firefighting aircraft to leave the fire area until the UAV was back on the ground," the Forest Service said.

The fire was the Mcilory Fire. It burned 410 acres Saturday afternoon and evening.

The Forest Service said it is not safe for them to fly while drones are around.

"If you fly, we can't fly."
