Fake News: Lake Brownwood officials respond to freshwater shark rumors

BROWN COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - State Park Officials have taken to social media to dispel a fake news rumor about a freshwater shark being caught in Lake Brownwood.

Lake Brownwood State Park - Texas Parks and Wildlife posted the following message on Facebook Tuesday afternoon after receiving multiple inquires about the alleged shark: 

 

The fake news article, generated on www.breakingnews247.net, says a grandfather was fishing at the lake with his granddaughter last week when he caught the shark, prompting the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife to issue a warning to the surrounding counties. 

Over 80,000 social media users have shared the fake news story.
