Family searching for golf cart stolen from man with special needs

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - An Abilene family is asking for any help in locating a special golf cart stolen from their property over the weekend.

On Sunday morning, July 30, Tracy and Cody Jones woke up early to go golfing. When they went outside, they noticed something was missing. It was the golf cart belonging to Cody Jones, a young man with Autism.

As soon as they noticed the cart was stolen, Tracy went out searching while his wife, Susan, called police.

The cart belonged to Cody, who used the cart while playing golf. Cody has Autism, and he and his father play together on a unified Special Olympics Golf team.

Because Cody has loved the color green since he was a child, his father painted the cart in camo.

Cody's mother Susan said that when he found the cart missing, Cody was mad, and sad, that someone would steal his "special thing".

The family has made flyers and a Facebook post, which has been shared nearly 1,000 times, including as far as Arkansas and Oklahoma.

The family is asking for whoever stole the cart to return this very special item.

The Jones family would like to thank the friends, family and officers who have helped in the search so far.

The Abilene Police Department did confirm their Responsive Intelligence Division is investigating.
