Fiery crash kills 18-wheeler driver on I-20 in Sweetwater

NOLAN COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A fiery crash killed an 18-wheeler driver on eastbound I-20 in Sweetwater Tuesday afternoon.

The big rig caught fire near mile marker 257 around 1:48 p.m., killing the driver upon impact. 

The driver has been identified as Hector M. Pedroza  Guillen, 58, of El Paso. Guillen was transporting office supplies from El Paso to Meridian. 

Traffic was slowed to a crawl on both sides of the interstate as the 18-wheeler burned for over an hour. 

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, though investigators believe inclement weather could have been a contributing factor.
