Fire in Maryneal contained, estimated 220 acres burned

MARYNEAL, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - The fire in Maryneal, Texas has been contained thanks to the efforts of 8 area fire departments.

A fire broke out Thursday afternoon in Maryneal, Texas, and was contained thanks to the efforts of the Bronte, Blackwell, Maryneal, Roscoe, Nolan, Lake Sweetwater, Sweetwater and Snyder Fire Departments.

As of about 8 p.m., the fire had been contained, and had burned an estimated 220 acres. 

According to one firefighter on the scene, an issue with a powerline is believed to be the cause of the fire.

Fire crews from Maryneal are expected to stay overnight to monitor the fire and make sure there are no additional flare ups.
