Flu causing low blood supply at Abilene's Meek Blood Center

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Abilene's Meek Blood Center is in critical need of all blood types because the flu and other illnesses have been keeping donors away.

A press release from Hendrick Medical Center, the hospital which oversees Meek, states "flu and other flu-related illnesses are keeping donors from donating, and our need for blood has not slowed down. Unfortunately, we are not alone and this is a nation-wide problem."

Meek Blood Center has two locations in town  - one at Hendrick Medical Plaza and one at
1150 North 18th Street.

Hours of operation and more information on the blood centers can be found on their website

There will also be a blood drive at McMurry University Wednesday and another drive at the Lion's Club Building in Sweetwater Thursday.
