Former Brownwood juvenile detention center employee arrested for official oppression

BROWNWOOD, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A former employee of a Brownwood detention center accused of excessive force has been arrested following a state-wide investigation into the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. 

Morsello Hooker, 31, was one of 5 current or former TJJD employees charged with Official Oppression Thursday after Governor Greg Abbott directed an investigation into the excessive force allegations. 

Hooker previously worked at the Texas Juvenile Justice Department on FM3254, though the exact time frame of his employment has not been released. 

Derrick Goodman, Shannon Hoaglen, 41, and Derrick Day, all formerly employed with the TJJD facility in Gainesville, were arrested for Official Oppression as well. A 5th suspect is still at large. 

The Texas Rangers, the TJJD Office of Inspector General, and the TJJD Special Prosecution Unit are assisting in the ongoing investigation.
