Former Zephyr ISD teacher arrested for improper relationship with student

ZEPHYR, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A former Zephyr ISD teacher has been arrested amidst allegations of having an improper relationship with a student.

Freya McCleery, 37, was booked into the Brown County Jail Thursday for Improper Relationship Between Educator and Student then released after posting a $75,000 bond.

Superintendent Stanton Marwitz confirms the investigation into McCleery began in late July when he received information that she could be involved in an improper relationship with a former student while the student was enrolled in ZISD.

Marwitz then reported the allegations to CPS, the State Board of Educator Certification, and the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, and McCleery was subsequently terminated from her position with the school district in August.

Superintendent Marwitz is unable to provide further comment due to the ongoing investigation, but he does say that, "Zephyr ISD puts the safety of its students above all else. Anyone with information of this nature should immediately contact the Zephyr Independent School District or Brown County Sheriff’s Department [sic]."

BigCountryHomepage will provide more information on this investigation as soon as it's released.
