Fundraiser set for young sisters killed in Abilene I-20 crash

Fundraiser is Friday

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - A fundraiser is planned on Friday for the two young sisters being remembered as "beautiful examples of Jesus' love."

The Lindley sisters were killed in early March in a crash on Abilene's east side. 

The fundraiser is set for Friday at Don Luis Restaurants in Abilene and Baird. 

  • Where: Don Luis Restaurants (840 West 4th in Baird, 3307 N 1st in Abilene, 4534 Buffalo Gap in Abilene)
  • When:  Friday, March 30, 2018; 11 a.m. - 10 p.m.
  • What: Don Luis is donating 10 percent of all sales to the Lindley Family for medical/funeral expenses

It was March 2, 2018, when 14-year-old Melissa Grace Lindley and 11-year-old Starla Lindley were killed. The vehicle they were in was rear-ended while they were stopped due to another accident near mile marker 290. 

No criminal action has been taken in the case. Days later, investigators carried out search warrants for electronic data in the involved cars. 

Other fundraising efforts 

The girls were homeschooled and members of the Friday School Homeschool Co-Op. According to the group, the family was headed to a co-op the morning the crash happened.
