"Grinch" Stealing Christmas Decorations in Brownwood

BROWNWOOD, Texas (KTAB)- There are a lot of ways to bring joy to people during the holiday season. One such way is to decorate your home with lights, inflatables, and other Christmas decorations for all passersby to see. But Brownwood residents are finding that the joy of Christmas yard decorations are being stolen and destroyed.

David Garcia, a resident in Brownwood, woke up Sunday morning to find the lights he and his wife had just put out the day before, were not only missing but smashed in the streets right in front of his home.

Residents are calling the person responsible "The Grinch."

"Whoever did it, probably just opened the door and took off with the lights and drug everything with it including 2 strings of lights and the stakes " explains Garcia.

Jared Trowbridge says he and his children woke up Sunday morning to find their inflatable Santa had been slashed and a projector light had been broken.

"It just stinks you know, my kids loved that Santa and the projector lights, that's what they picked out, we decorated and put it up together," Trowbridge comments.

Renea Webb had a gold deer stolen from her front yard and her daughter, who lives next door, had a few ornaments stolen as well.

Garcia said that both he and his wife love putting the lights out. "It makes us feel better and hopefully it makes others feel better too, that's why we are going to replace them," says Garcia.

Several residents say they did not call and report the damage and/or stolen items because the value of the property wasn't high and they didn't think much could be done.
